second life glamour shots
a couple of days ago Aevalah Nikolaidis on plurk issued the challenge that we should make glamour shot photos using the variety of tips found in this hilarious blog article featuring real life glamour shots. she even created a flickr group for it and i just couldn’t resist! i never got glamour shot photos.. they were never my thing but thanks to the magic of second life, i’m able to fix that!
i tried to hit these with that awful soft light fuzzyness that real glamour shot photos have but i’m so pale that it washed me out a bit too much.
and yes i KNOW i need to start posting here more. real life has reduced me to barely fashion blogging, let alone actually living in second life. but real life is more interesting so its not a big deal :p
i forgot
november brought about a big change in my life, and i forgot to really write about it on here. i broke up with lucas, reconciled differences with a long lost rl love, and now live safe and happy in his home where i’ll be slowly creating another human being for the next few months… the hardest work of art i’ll probably ever create.
i’ve barely been on second life since. i did make a new store, to continue to sell the cool stuff i created under the [LuNi] name. unlike lucas, i am not using any of the items created by the both of us. he however is still selling my work, under his name, on marketplace… i do not have the time nor money to dcma all of the things he has up, but i hope he will at some point realize that this is wrong and remove them.
there were a lot of things i could not say, or do, when i was with lucas. he kept me caged up a bit, even though he’d say he never told me i couldn’t do things. his anger at me when i would do as i wished was enough to keep me locked away.
i am my own person now. and no one tells me what to do. i am enjoying my life, however its now more outside of second life than it was before. i recall being so envious of people who would leave second life, citing they had rl stuff to attend to… i finally have that, and it feels good to not NEED to log in.
i do enjoy logging in now and then, to visit with people, and play dress up. i do want to continue my fashion blog and i should write here once in a while, but i’m just not around as much as i was before…
my life is finally exciting. i have real love that doesn’t lock me away in cages and limit my interaction with the rest of the world. i’m smiling now instead of crying (except when those damn pregnancy hormones kick in) life is beautiful.
oh hai, i’m at burning life…
not much to say recently but since i took a little trip to burning life i figured i’d share some photos.
how to (possibly) get viewer “3” to work
i’ve noticed a few people have mentioned on plurk that they cannot get the newest LL viewer to work for them. i had this problem too, and i was given a solution by oriana kuhr that helped me get the stupid thing to work. this work around is for people who have a 64bit windows OS.
when you install the viewer, it will most likely install it to the default x86 program files folder. for some reason this is causing problems with the viewer, making it strangely unstable, or just not even run. for me, i couldn’t get the damn thing to even load past the login screen.
to remedy this, you must install the viewer outside of that x86 folder which is so simple, even a blingtard could do it.
when you are installing, and see a window like this:
just click in the box and edit out the (x86) portion. (ignore my drive letter, i install second life viewers to a different hard drive)
your box should now look like this:
just hit install and the rest is as normal!
i hope this helps some of you get your viewer to work!
Edited to add:
more tutorials are popping up for other issues with this new viewer. if my work around doesn’t work, try this!
One Click Vacations
sheesh.. i haven’t written since july…
a couple of weeks ago i asked people on plurk to provide me with slurls or landmarks to their favourite sims in second life. i went to each of these sims and took one photo that i felt represented the sim in my eyes. and now i’m sharing those with you!
No Salvation (must be adult to enter)
this was a very fun project! and i got to see a bunch of places i’ve never been to before which was awesome. i’m sure i will do this again, so if you are friends with me on plurk be on the lookout when i ask for favourite sims!
a whole other side of life
at the beginning of may, my mother died suddenly, leaving behind a lot of unpaid bills, worries, and regrets. while i won’t talk about that here (as i have already said plenty on the subject on my rl blog) i wanted to write about what i’ve been doing recently.
since my mom’s death, i’ve been exploring parts of sl that have interested me for a while, but i never really got involved in. i have this sl kid alt that i dusted off as a way to hide and cope with mom’s death, and i’ve just sort of fallen in love with the little character that she is.
juliet is a ten year old who lives in the care of my friend fenni, in a house full of meeroos and sugar coated cereal. her best friend, romeo, takes her on trips around mainland and she repays him with hugs (and then promptly says ew)
i’ve been a kid avatar off and on for a while now, but never really dedicated an avatar to it. i used to just wear a different avvie on my regular me, and use that, but i really wanted to have an avvie that was just a kid, with only kid stuff in inventory, and a different home than me, and all that good stuff. so juliet was born. and then i forgot about her… and then i dusted her off and made her pretty
i’m a weiner!
i’ve won my first photo contest! i meant to write about this earlier but i haven’t had a chance. the photo i took for mali won the hugo designs photo contest and is in the june issue of toosexy magazine on page 148! even though they really never mention my name, i am really proud to have won this
this is the FIRST TIME EVER that i have won a photo contest! i got honorable mention in the hair fair contest years ago, but this is the first time that a photo i took WON something…
today i am five
5 years ago i set foot on a grand new adventure into the strange world of second life. along the way i have gained good friends, learned a lot about making stuff in photoshop and 3d programs, found a lot of self confidence i thought i had lost a long time ago, and found the love of my life.
today i celebrate 5 years of sticking with this place, even though others would yell and shake fists at the lindens, and picked up sticks out of rage.
this place is my home and i love it so much.
where the hell is nimil now??
yes i’m a shitty blogger. i go for long stretches of time without any sort of communication. sorry…
if you pay attention to my fashion blog, that’s where i’ve been blogging mostly. i haven’t had much to say about sl that wasn’t me shopping so eh..
i have been taking pretty pictures and becoming more comfortable with shadows and the kirsten viewer. i still use a regular viewer (at the moment singularity) for day to day second life, but kirstens has become my photo tool.
recently i was comissioned by an old friend for a couple of contest photos, here are the photos i did for her:
this is for the N-core and Hucci contest
and this is for the hugo’s designs april photo contest
mali is a delightful model and i love working with her.
also going on in my life, i am a meeroo mommy O_O if you noticed on my fashion blog, i have been playing with the open beta meeroos for a bit now! i’ve only got 2 rezzed cause i didn’t really want to end up with a huge truck load of them to start out with. my 2 had a baby this afternoon and now i have 3
they are adorable and i need to take more pictures.. i guess that’s a reason to blog eh?
other than that, not much to say. learning a bit more about tools to make sculpties and someday meshes, learning a bit more about texturing…
i really need to come up with a new layout for this place >_< maybe that will make me want to blog more…
